If you don't have time to go through the whole anime series (which I highly suggest you watch), watch the movie. This series is hyped into astronomical ratings for a reason.
If you're into giant robots, Eureka 7 is awesome as hell.
The first season of FMA in 2006 was nowhere NEAR as epic as this newer one, which followed the plot from the manga.
May look kinda gay, but has an awesome story on epic proportions. Code Geass
