In all honesty, there is no definitive way to fix it, because each iphone requires different ways to fix it.
Say you get 8 hours of usage on your phone now, if you fix the problem, you can most likely double the usage...
Here is a list of things that I tried for mine before finding one that actually worked.
-Reboot device a couple of times.
-open up safari, and CLOSE all windows. Then restart the device. It is believed that the open windows/tabs keeps the iphone from going into stand-by mode.
-Delete the apps that you think may be suspicious of bugs, delete and re-install them
-plug iphone into iTunes, do a FULL back-up. Then reset iphone to factory settings. Then restore your back-up onto the phone again.
-Drain your iphone to 0%, then top it up again.
WHAT did work for mine was rebooting my device numerous times.
NOTE: I download new apps every now and then, and I always check the stand-by settings. And I will always know instantly if I have downloaded an app with a bug, because the stand-by number will be messed up.
The "bug" simply refers to errors in the App software that creates loops and cycles that runs in the background of the phone; that prevents the phone from fully going into stand-by mode.
Hope you resolve the problem soon!
