It was an issue with the early E46s - 1999 to 2000.

I would first try to get it repaired by BMW. There have been quite a few people who have successful gotten their floors replaced by BMW. After all, there's a class action lawsuit that was settled in the US.

If yours hasn't cracked yet and if you want piece of mind, there are a couple of options:
- Tuner Motorsport reinforcement plates. $140 for the plates + labour to get them welded (you're probably looking at 10-12 hours labour)
- Nixon does reinforcements for about $1900.
