I don't see the need for the "r u kidding me" face but they came on the Genesis sedan stock for a period of time didn't they? And since the Genesis sedan, coupe and Equus are considered Hyundai's higher line of cars a lot of people with the coupe opted to have this emblem instead of the crooked H as it looks drastically better in the eyes of many.
This is also evident in the fact that there have been talks of Hyundai developing a luxury line similar to Toyota and Lexus and Nissan and Infiniti
