I've been rooting for the Flyers and Canucks since my Sabres didn't make the playoffs, but if the Canucks are out, I'll be hoping for a Flyers vs Predators final while rocking my Giroux jersey.

I think Gillis and the Canucks got too caught up on trying to emulate the big bad Bruins. Yes, size/toughness was one of the factors the Bruins beat the Canucks last season, but a bigger issue I think was the Canucks lack of scoring which has crept up again. Everyone loves just to blame Lu for the finals last year, but seems to forget our powerplay disappeared in that series and so did our scoring with injuries catching up to Kesler, Ehrhoff, Hamhuis and Burrows. Even with the Canucks being handled physically by the Bruins last playoffs, they still came so close within a game from the Cup.

All year I haven't been as confident in this years version of the Canucks as I was last year and the trade for Kassian still has me scratching my head, oh don't get me wrong, I'm loving that trade as a Sabres fan, but I wasn't expecting the Sabres to do much this year and thought Hodgson was in a position to help the Canucks more than Kassian this post season. Kassian still can turn out to be a good player, but having watched him closely with the Sabres, he was nowhere near ready and the Canucks already had a version of what Kassian is right now in Bitz. I agreed the Canucks needed more size and grit, but was shocked when Cody was traded for someone who likely wouldn't be ready to make an impact for 2-4 years at least.

The Canucks did play a lot better in game 3 but they got to get more quality scoring chances, too many shots from the perimeter and no finish for these guys right now. The D coverage has been atrocious, especially Edler, when did Brent Sopel take over Edler's body??? Doesn't matter if you have Lu or Schneider back there when they're getting no support in front of them, both goalies have played great, but if the Canucks can't pull off a miracle, Gillis has to move one of them for an asset that can help them out right away, not a project like Kass.
