The same kind of story came up recently with my family (we're Chinese). My 2 cousins (guy cousin dating an Australian female and female cousin dating a French dude). We had a giant family dinner not too long ago and my grandparents got to meet both the white people. I think it was just how we were raised (we all went to international school and our parents all studied abroad while the grandparents were in HK) so my grandma especially doesn't really mind too much. She would often stare and shit but she won't go ape shit and question my cousins or anything. I think my grandma realizes that it would happen sooner or later since we do live in North America after all..The Australian girl is actually learning Chinese so she would try to communicate with my grandma and it kinda breaks the ice lol. Maybe that's the way to go.
