Yes Ivy Bridge is a 'refresh' on Sandy Bridge. Just a move to 22nm to prepare for the true next generation. Intel has done this for years, and it is exactly why AMD is failing and they are not. AMD tries to do a die shrink along with a whole new architecture, and runs into problem after problem.
