You missed all the other points about AV vs MacT.
Both coaches lost in SCF Game 7 situations but AV had the President Trophy winning Canucks at his disposal. MacT's Oiler squad squeezed in at #8 and they took out Detroit in the 1st round (who won the President's Trophy that season!) He actually had to make changes to his team's game plan in order to beat a much more stacked Red Wings roster.
What does AV do? Scratch players? Line juggle? He will consistently play the same strategy with the same favorite players regardless of how ineffective they are. What is AV's system like? It's pretty unclear. He just puts lines together and hopes for the best.
