Im looking at the asus V boards because it leaves an upgrade path for thunderbolt in the future...the only integrated ones so far are the Intel DZ77RE-75K and MSI Z77A-GD80 which im assuming is way over my $200 budget

I'd just save money and get a non thunderbolt board. Reason being, the mobos that support Thunderbolt aren't hot swappable like they are on a mac. Everytime you connect a thunderbolt device, you're going to have to reboot your computer which makes thunderbolt rather useless.
