I used to teach guitar, songwriting, and basic compositions for some extra pocket money, but haven't for a while.
But seriously, I'll tell you what I tell my students from the start - you don't really need guitar lessons nowadays. If you can read tabs and a chord chart, that's really all you need. And just keep playing every day.
If you already know how to read tabs and a chord chart, there's no point in me teaching you what you already know. My new students would see me once a week, no more than 3 weeks in a row, and then call me maybe once a month for a lesson if there's something they're particularly stuck on. 99% of modern music is 4-6 chords with 1 or 2 simple riffs.
Depends what you wanna do. If you don't think you're going to be playing any heavy improv or composing, then tabs and chords are all you really need. Tabs are what the majority of people play with anyway. You'd be surprised at how many famous "musicians" don't even know basic theory.
When it comes to starting from notes instead of tabs, I personally completely disagree. A guitar is not a piano. Sure, learning theory doesn't hurt. But for people who just want to play, I don't think theory should be the top priority.
