So a couple months ago, a neighbor of ours (older lady who sometimes watches our dogs) answered a Craigslist ad for a free dog. And this woman dropped off Minnie to her. Wasn't sure what mix, but she thought she was about 5, hadn't been spayed, didn't know when she'd last had her shots, and was in bad need of some dental work.
Less than a week later, this neighbor ended up in the hospital... another neighbor in her building watched Minnie for a couple weeks and fell in love, but she already had one dog and their strata are extremely anal about the one-pet limit.
When we saw her walking the two dogs one day, she was distraught about what was going to become of Minnie, since she couldn't keep her, and had no idea how long the other neighbor was going to be in hospital. So of course, we offered to take her in...
So we got her spayed, teeth cleaned, microchipped, shots up to date... she's the same size as the Mini-Mutts and though it took some time, she's settled right in with the pack.
Five weeks later, the neighbor is back home, but in no condition to care for a dog... Minnie is pretty much a permanent part of the Mini-Mutts now (although as far as anyone outside is concerned, we're just babysitting... bylaws and all).
Next thing is to order a DNA kit and find out just what sort of mix she is... we were told "Yorkie x Chihuahua" but I see Min-Pin in the ears and color/markings, and some Jack Russel in the stockiness and the way she runs around...
