See all those commercials from Shell and Chevron about how great their gas is because it cleans your valves? Not applicable for direct injection cars because the injectors are in the combustion chamber and the fuel doesn't hit the intake valves. DI cars suffer from carbon deposits in their intake valve stems from the egr, oil blow by, etc., just google direct injection intake valves on audi/vw and mazdaspeed 3/6 cars. Port injection used along with direct injection is supposed to clean the intake valves.
