I am not sure which version of Metro you refer to but the Metro on Win8 public beta (consumer preview) is utter garbage. It's so bad that the first search on the internet after I installed Win8 was "how to disable metro in win8" rather than the usual "firefox download". I thought I couldn't find anything less tolerable than crappy IE, but I was wrong.
Let me rephrase what I posted before, MS isn't interested in introducing an iPad competitor. They are seeing the decline in PC industry (dominated by WINTEL combo) and want to keep their relevance before people shift away for iOS or Android devices. This mentality, is why Windows Mobile couldn't keep up with Android (no. 1) and iOS (no. 2)
If MS is really serious about this market, they should stop bringing this one-OS fits all crap. They should dedicate themselves and make an OS that's truly focused on portable devices rather than introducing Metro (which is more or less a skin for Win7 so that touch devices can use it a bit better)
When I saw these tablets will have Win8 in them, the only thing that crossed my mind is, oh great, another device to buff MS Windows license number sold.
