Many people don't need high definition footage. They just want a video camera that records what happens. ICBC will rule in your favour (or someone else's) provided they can see what happened. It doesn't matter if you're able to make out if the person driving has blue or brown eyes.
Besides, using the screen is illegal in BC, so it doesn't really matter if it works or not.
