I've tried the "get out there and meet people" deal through a couple of the RS meets, but nothing really came of those (since I usually have to re-introduce myself), and the club scene isn't my thing. If I was to just randomly say "Hi" to someone, I'd come off as a strong creeper (I kinda do seem awkward to a lot of people), and if I change jobs, I'd basically sacrifice everything I paid and worked for to get to where I am now. It's discouraging to try to ask my old friends to meet up either, considering the last time anyone asked me to go do something that wasn't planned weeks in advance was over two years ago.

Just start chatting up with random people you'll be surprised how open some people are. Who knows maybe one thing will lead to another but the first step is initiating it.
It is hard to try to hangout with your old friends, I've been there as well and it sucks. They develop other friends as well and do other things so you should too. Especially when you try to bring up something really funny from a long time ago they'll probably stare at you going

. Maybe if you have time take up a hobby that wack jobs don't like.
