How many of you guys commute rain or shine?

I've been able to get away with riding with a 'water resistant' light weight shell since it hasn't rained very hard in the last few months. But when it pours, I start to get pretty wet sit the seams aren't taped.

Any of you guys invest in a nicer jacket?

I'm wondering if I should get a waterproof shell, or fork out the dough for a nicer jacket where it's got some thermal properties + completely waterproof... (example the Campagnolo jackets: Campagnolo Tech Motion - SPACEHAB Windproof Jacket SS12 | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com )

I haven't riden in super cold rain, so it's hard to know how warm of a jacket / or how many layers i need
I ride year round, and yes, an investment in a good jacket is a good idea! Currently I use a Sugoi shell jacket in light rain, and in heavier showers, I use a Showers Pass jacket. I know MEC now carries Showers Pass. Either way, it's near impossible to find a jacket that breathes and is waterproof at the same time. Yes, you can get a Gore-tex jacket that'll keep you dry, but the sweat you generate inside will keep you wet & cold! What I usually do is wear a long sleeve merino wool top under my jacket. Even if it gets wet, I still feel warmth at least. Another thing to keep in mind, is to get a good pair of booties. Personally, I hate having wet feet. Again, wool socks are great.
