From what I know and this remember what "I" know, is that the cop IF he changes it most likely it will be infront of the judge.
Remember he is expecting you to show up to court now and dispute it.
So all he would do (I assume) is that he will build up his evidence to prove that you are going excessive and bring it to court.
But by then you would have pulled out.
