Top of the shoulder, and the lines on the hip were the worst for me. Inside of the arm is a very burning type pain for me, which doesn't bother me as much as on the bone type of pain. Its different for everyone, but the best advice I can give you is:
Its a tattoo, its gonna hurt, and it sure as fuck isn't gonna kill you. Set a goal for yourself as far as time you can sit for and be realistic. If its your first, shoot for 2.5 to 3 hours if its a big piece. Remember, the longer you sit for, the less sessions it takes. If you think you can't handle it, take 5, chug some water and have some 5 cent candies and sit back down and you'll be ready to go again. Eat a good meal before you go, tons of water and some snacks are key to a good session. Try not to be hungover. You will bleed like crazy, swell more, and in turn, it will hurt more, and you'll lose more ink.
