WRT54G series is arguably the best G routers ever made. People whom have used it swear by it and have purchased several for backup incase they discontinue it.

I powercycle mine like once a year thats only when there is an issue with my cable modem. Check if the firmware is updated or if that doesn't work, give DD-WRT a shot.
