Your thoughts on the Lakers' hiring of D'Antoni? I think this decision says much about owner Jerry Buss in terms of his willingness to give more control to the coach.
Buss is driving the Lakers' bus, no doubt about it. If Jackson was hired to be the coach, Phil may have asked for more authority over the team, part ownership of the team, who knows. I doubt that Buss is willing to give up more to hire Jackson.
D'Antoni better know how to manage the stars on this team. Based on this article, it sounds like he's not very confrontational. Yeah, Mike knows Kobe back in the day when Mamba played basketball in Italy.

However, what if things going really sour for the Lakers? How will Bryant react? How will D'Antoni deal with with the big egos of players especially if the season doesn't turn out the way the Lakers hope it to be?
Everybody knows that D'Antoni's weakness is defense. Can Nate McMillan, supposedly his choice as defensive assistant coach, improve the D for the Lakers?
