i drove to kelowna every year with my camry and all seasons. you'll do fine with the civic on winters. worst case they'll ask you to pull over and wait till the plow clears the coquihalla.
bring blankets, maybe a portable stove with water and hot chocolate to help pass the time in the cold.

this is what i used to do in my camry. shovel, sand/salt and chains. usually just had to use the sand/salt
