I'm still flipping between my two HDD's trying to decide what to go with, 7 or 8. 8 booted faster but seemed to jam up a fair bit, and having to go third aprty to get rid of Metro seems a bit silly. Is there a way to change Metro into just a strip down the left side of the screen beside the regular desktop(kinda like having the Start menu open all the time) instead of it being full screen?

Because that's what it came with, and most basic users aren't going to change it around. Seeing as Metro appears to be designed for basic users (I may be wrong) they threw in some weird features.
