i used shit loads of foundation when i was gothic and eyeliner. mind you i had a hot ass goth girlfriend who liked it, so it is nice to have a support structure for different style choices.

i guess that's where the issue lies. even though i've worn makeup i'd still razz the hell out of you, that's just what guys do, lol. but if you're confident in how you want to look no one will mess with you. you're girlfriend and friend probably picked up on the fact that you didn't want anyone to know and that's why they're having a bit of fun.

as well go to a makeup consultant. my guess as an artist who picks up on visual cues and has worn makeup, you probably didn't do one of the fallowing

-put moisturizer on first, this prevents the foundation drying and turning into little balls.

-get the right shade and tone. shade is the value of light and dark (pale, tanned) and tone is the base hue, cold or warm, with slight colour bases (a simple example would be the small amounts of red or blue that have to match the red and blue in your skin).

-blend the foundation to the end of your face. watch under the nose, under the eyes, blend it to your jaw line (if you stop before you'll see it, if you stop bellow you'll have to do your neck to match).

-applies it too thick. if you're just using your fingers you can apply it too thick, where when you make an expresion the foundation creates a line where the parts of your face wrinkle.
