coffee, ice cream, walk in a park, any sport, breakfast/lunch (just not dinner), gym... nothing romantic ffs.

I dont disagree with what you said, but based on what OP said the girl wants supper and japanese food around robson, would prolly equate to about $50 or more. OP agreed and then backed out in the end.
Yes, dates may or may not cost money, but what I was stating for example, the guy pays for supper for one date, if the girl is appreciative she would initiate another date or movie/coffee/breakfast/lunch/etc.
Though I have never heard of playing sports and gym dates lol.
