All women whom I've dated who were interested in me would always offer to pay or bring out their wallets out of their purses. As a regular guy, I always insisted on paying.
I think what matters is that the woman makes a gesture to pay. This suggests that she's willing to put in her fair share if you two ever enter a relationship. If she makes no gesture, then I would steer clear.
