I think what matters is that the woman makes a gesture to pay. This suggests that she's willing to put in her fair share if you two ever enter a relationship. If she makes no gesture, then I would steer clear.

Totally agree with gesture thing.
I always offer to pay for my own portion. But I don't see the need to pay for the guy's too. Especially if it's someone I don't know very well whether I'm interested or not.
If the girl is trying to be all princess and doesn't even whip out her wallet... Then meh...
