Before I start, can you make sure that the settings you put into your wireless is correct. Just incase your mom somehow pressed "forget wireless settings" and you input it back with like a WAP2 when the password is WEP because that will make it so its local only. [learned from experience... my mom did this some how LOL]
To do this:
-> start
-> control panel
-> network and sharing center
-> on the left hand side select 'manage wireless networks'
-> Then delete the ones in your house.
-> (i'm assuming you have a password) now bottom right icon click your network icon and select the wifi in your house, it'll prompt you for the password (if it doesn't, you did it wrong and do the steps again). make sure the password is correct, you can make sure by checking off the "show characters" in the box.
-> check if internet is working

This is an alternate way to fix your problem, assuming the problem is on the routers end.

This doesn't fix your current issue, all this does is "starts you from fresh".

Imo, if it's an issue at home, it's easier to do than to resolve a problem than to try to spend hours figuring out that one issue.

Also before I get into that I'm going to list a few things for you to try before you do it. I am assuming your just a regular home user, that doesn't tamper with any of the settings (numbers and stuff).

1.) Check that your ipv4 and ipv6 are all on automatic. To do this....
2.) start -> control panel -> network and sharing centre -> change adapter settings
3.) right click your wifi and local ethernet and click properties and make sure they are both set on 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'obtain DNS server address automatically'

Next thing to do is:
1.) start -> run -> cmd
2.) type in 'ipconfig /release' and let it do its thing
3.) once its done (when you can type again), type in 'ipconfig /renew'
4.) once its done test your internet connection.

if it doesn't work still try this

-> right click computer (or right click my computer on your desktop if its there)
-> select manage
-> on the left hand side select 'Device manager' http://puu.sh/1YJnJ
-> on the right hand side select your 'Network Adapters" http://puu.sh/1YJoD
-> then on the drop down, you should have 1 wifi (most likely called Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN) and 1 Ethernet (probably some realtek blah blah blah) [every computer is different].
-> right click them one at a time and disable both of them. (your computer might freeze for like 1 or 2 seconds) http://puu.sh/1YJrH when its disabled it'll have an x or some icon on it like so (im using windows 7) http://puu.sh/1YJsW NOTE: it will prompt you if you want to disable it or not Yes or no, select yes.
-> Now re enable it by right clicking it again and selecting enable http://puu.sh/1YJu8
make sure you enable both! now don't close that screen, minimize it and test your internet. (Some odd reason, some brands like asus motherboards and I think it was Dell laptops had this problem)

if still doesn't work... try this:

Back onto the Computer Management screen from above that I told you to minimize, go back to your wireless router and right click the wireless one, select properties, in the new window select the 'Drivers' tab, and select update driver. Test it, still doesn't work and you have a roll back option, roll it back and try it again. http://puu.sh/1YJAP

if it still doesn't work... this is the actual router reset I mentioned earlier... basically what you can do is a full reset, meaning it will be like when you got your router brand new (meaning your wifi password will be gone too). Go up to your router and modem, disconnect all the wires. On the back of your router, there's a tiny hole tht you can put like a toothpick and and press down on it (usually has in small words reset). Press it and hold it down for 10-15 seconds. Then reconnect everything and try your internet again.

edit1: i also forgot to mention, if your using like a wpa2 password, idk why some computers.... (ones running windows) hate WPA and stuff and just stops all of a sudden, and changing the security protocol to WEP will resolve the issue. Its weird but it works O_O
