Fender makes a line of portable rigs that is the shizznitz: speakers clamp to the sides and cables stow inside for carrying:
HOWEVER, if it's just for playing tunes at the beach, all these sorts of things are overkill - they tend to have mic inputs, multiple line inputs, etc... none of which you need for the beach (unless you're doing karaoke). Something with a single line/iPod input is all you should need... maybe consider something like this:
Some of them will go seriously loud and they'll run forever on a rechargeable lithium battery (some will also charge the battery when plugged in).
