I got pretty high up in HoN 2 years ago or so and I stopped playing because the community is shit.

There were the "top players" who have their own little groups and troll around all day and mock other players. Majority of the "top players" are young 16-17 years old kids who are really really awkward virgins (or atleast appear to be) and it got old fast.

I also just stopped playing a lot of video games I guess I just grew up. I played dota for a while and it did seem a lot slower and HoN was great for ganking since it was much more fast paced and ganking oriented heroes.
