Hey guys, I just got out of a 3 year contract with Fido yesterday and I'm not sure what would be the next best step to take. I have a Galaxy Nexus atm. It runs fine and I have no problems with it. However, should I take advantage of the fact that I can get a subsidized phone now but at the cost of being on another contract? I was thinking a 2 year $25 plan + $0 Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. I know if I re-sign, the plan would be a bit different because they just revamped them all yesterday but it's still within the range of features that fits my needs. Plus right now they are giving 50% off 6 months and the first month free. I don't know if that works out to be a total of $100 off or $87.5.

For about half a year I had the $25 for 2GB of data add-on but since I'm always around Wi-Fi at school, albeit whacky and unstable, I decided I could live without it and I'd rather have a low and minimal phone bill instead. After all, I'm a starving student.

I also don't really have the option of Wind because I go to school at SFU and I'm very skeptical about the reception there. As for Mobilicity, I know they recently just set up a site there but I'm still not certain it's going to be better than my current Fido reception.

Current:

Unlimited text, picture, and video messages
150 minutes
Unlimited E/W (starting from 5pm -7am)
Caller ID
Voicemail (3)

$24 + HST (old $25 plan + $6 call display/mini voicemail - $7 retention credit (good til September 2013))

New:

Unlimited text, picture, and video messages
100 minutes
Unlimited E/W (starting from 6pm -7am)
Caller ID
Voicemail (3)

$25 + HST

I'm going to be losing 50 daytime minutes and 1 hour of E/W calls. Neither of these really affect me because honestly I rarely ever make phone calls. My usage over the past 5 months has been an average of 60 daytime minutes/month. I'd also be paying $1 more but I get a free phone.

TIA!
