Motorcycle skills test
The motorcycle skills test is a 15-minute test of basic riding skills like signalling, handling the clutch and throttle, braking and turning.
When can I take the motorcycle skills test?
You take this test after passing the motorcycle knowledge test, but before taking a motorcycle road test.
If you Then you can take the motorcycle skills test
already have a B.C. driver's licence after holding a Class 6L motorcycle learner's licence for at least 14 days.
don't already have a B.C. driver's licence (or are in the graduated licensing program) after holding a Class 8L motorcyle learner's licence for at least 30 days.
Note: If you take a course at a certified rider training school, you may be able to skip the regular motorcycle skills test. The school assesses your basic riding skills instead.
What's the test like?
The motorcycle skills test is about 15 minutes long. It takes place in a paved lot at slow speeds.
You're tested on
identifying the controls on your motorcycle
pushing the motorcycle (non-powered)
using hand signals
key notes:
A) you need knowledge test completed
B) you need an insured bike AND another full class 6 (above 25 yrs) to supervise, otherwise you cannot ride alone between dawn to dusk. Speed limited/no highways
C) 14 days in after you completed your knowledge, test (30 if you are 8L and not 6L), and hopefully practice in between then, you may take the Skills Assessment. Parking lot slow maneuvers.
D) once you pass skills test, you may ride alone day or night however this expires one year from the date you got it. you must complete your full class 6 test before time elapses, otherwise you will forfeit and have to redo from step A again.
if i missed anything feel free to correct.
