visiting alcatraz is an option and it's pretty neat if you go on one of the first boat rides there (less people and it's noon when you're done/back on the pier just in time for some fish and chips!
not sure how the dog would be included in that though...
walking across the golden gate? cliche pics to be taken before you get there (iirc a souvenir shop just before) and that first big speed limit sign during the first bend getting on the bridge. have fun!
