This is highly controversial, but I personally believe there should be a day where you do higher rep squats 6-8, and a day for lower rep 2-3.

If you don't have the mechanics right and you are constantly pushing yourself with weights that are 90%+ of your 1RM, an injury is bound to happen.

Some guys can do fine with squatting heavy most of the time doing 3 reps because they've already established good mechanics and know how to maintain their body, if you feel like you have, then go for it

Up to a certain level you can add stuff like dynamic effort squats and depth jumps to further increase efficiency of fast twitch muscle firing and explosive power but only when you are elite.

I used to squat way to heavy with improper form not because I didnt know how, but because my body wasn't physically capable of doing proper form yet. It just didnt have the mobility and stability in the necessary joint areas for me to do a squat properly. I suffered an injury and it feels fucking bad.

Id rather progress slowly and steadily injury free then risk going heavier and heavier and place myself at a higher risk for injury.
