^ true, most people here are casual photogs
$1799 after tax is $2015. That's a serious amount of dough for a lens. Personally unless you make your living taking photos or you're hyper rich, that's kind of a lot for a prime lens.

Nikon 85mm f/1.8G Review
After looking at all the data, it becomes hard to justify the f1.4G (again for the regular consumer)
I've been pretty 'rough' with my f1.8G, just because it is lighter doesn't mean it isn't a durable lens. The 50mm f1.8G is also light as a feather, but doesn't mean it couldn't stand up to constant use..
