Edit: I read that post at Anandtech, and I agree with that guy  Make sure AHCI is enabled, and make sure you have the latest drivers. That's it. There are some caveats particularly if you are on an X79 but for most people that's all you need to do.

are there any maintenance needed for SSD to keep its optimal speeds?
ie defragging for HDDs
AHCI enabled so I assume TRIM is automatically working x64 win8
