Kobe's problem is he is so competitive he would always try to muscle his way to hero ball. Against great perimeter defenders (remember Tony Allen, Aaron Afflalo, Thabo Sefolosha, or Deshawn Stevenson?) he will force long-range-double-pump-fake-fade-way that would only worth 2 points. Sometimes he made them but most of the time he miss them because he's so well-defended and he's much older now.

Let's not forget the genius that were Phil Jackson, Pau was still a premiere star back then and their roster was deep with talents, which were the big reasons they've won that back-to-back.
