If you guys want to drive another 3 hrs South of Portland and go to Florence, you can check out the Sea Lion Cave and sand dunes, I think it's worth the drive. Pacific Coast Highway is a nice twisty drive but watch out for cops because they like to hide behind the bushes or after the curves.
