when you're done your treatment, i would recommend having a permanent wire put in place behind your teeth. i've seen lots of people go through years of having braces, only to have their teeth shift back to the way it once was due to not wearing retainers enough.

i've been wearing a wire behind the upper 6 front teeth for at least 4 years now. the only issue was that one of the brackets broke recently, so i had to get it bonded again. yes you can still floss through em, a bit annoying, but knowing your teeth won't be moving around AND not having to wear that nasty retainer after shelling out thousands of dollars is definitely worth it.
