There is a point of diminishing returns on everything. Who is to say that the 65 year old retired millionaire can't go out and buy a $20K bike with Campy Super Record EPS and let it just sit in his garage?
The point that needs to be driven across is if you want something and can afford it, go for it. What other people think is secondary.
