Threw on the Michelin Pro 4 Service Course tires onto my wheels earlier. I didn't take them out very far, just around the neighbourhood and back home. Here are my initial thoughts:
- These tires absorb/mask road shock and vibration better than the Michelin Pro 3. The difference isn't significant but noticeable enough.
- Lots of grip (but this could also mean prone to punctures - only time will tell)
- Low, smooth rolling resistance yet provides a good, solid ride
I find that these are a good compromise between the Michelin Pro Race 3 and Continental GP4000s, but closer to it's Michelin predecessor. Again, keep in mind that I only took it around the block so I haven't really broken the tires in nor have I done any hard riding on it with enough mileage.
Price Paid: $36.12 each from Wiggle (just the tires themselves)
Other details:
- Tested on a 2012 Cannondale CAAD10-4.
- Reynolds Solitude wheelset
- I had the Pro 3 tires on the same wheelset earlier this season (now on the Guru.)
I'm a little biased but I like these over the GP4000s.
Edit:
dat_steve - Beautiful bike man.
