I met my wife on a BBS way back in... 1997? But we were also friends of friends in real life.
A couple years after we started dating, we were blowing bubbles one afternoon at QE Park and Mike McCardell (from Global TV, but he recently left) filmed us for one of his segments. He asked us how we met, so we said "we met online, but we were also friends of friends". When the segment aired, it seemed to only focus on the first part!
Regardless, some of my wife's family members found out who she was dating, and a few of the staff at my dentist's office found out who I was dating - after watching that piece!
