Google is your friend. Not being a dick but I'm not a teacher and there are people that can explain this to you better than me.
Divide a picture into thirds so that it looks like a wide tic-tac-toe board when you're done. Place subjects on those lines.
Look at some of the pictures above. For example, pay attention to where Senna places the horizon in the twilight photos. Look at where the subjects are. They're never centered (either vertically or horizontally)...they're placed on one side on a third. I can't explain why but it's just more aesthetically pleasing.
Of course, there are always reasons to break these rules but I find that when you're starting, knowing at least this will improve your photography.
