It's more than just the core players that help any team win a Stanley Cup. You look at the last two Stanley Cup winning teams in Chicago and LA. Depth at centre. Toughness and offensive contributions from their star players and younger players. Good goaltending and defence.
Andrew Shaw and Brandon Saad were key contributors to the Blackhawks run to a Cup this season.
They had everything come together in the playoffs.
Hopefully, the Canucks' youth can provide some offence and much needed toughness to help out the Sedins and Kesler.
Torts' track record of developing younger players like he did with Ryan Callahan and Del Zotto of the Rangers should help Kassian and other young players.
We have a good core in the Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, Luongo, and good defensive depth. Is it enough to win a championship?
The younger players like Kassian need to elevate their game ASAP so that this team can go deeper into the playoffs.
