I couldn't find a closer topic thread so I thought I'd just post it here..

I'm thinking of switching from shaw extreme 20 to broadband 50

the reason is because I heard that on shaw extreme 20, it depends on how many people are on in my neighbourhood but broadband 50 is more of a direct line. (not sure if true or not)

I noticed when I plug my modem directly into my PS3 my download speed is a lot faster than going through my router (still wired connection, and I do have all the appropriate settings in my router settings.)

Those modems that have a built in router, do they specialize in improving broadband 50's performance? or are they just generic routers that shaw got for cheap?
