have you tried just letting your arms stay fully relaxed and lag behind? what i try to do now is use my lower body and core initiate my downswing and release. that's usually resulted in me fixing my snap hooks. maybe give that a try.

I figured out what I was doing. I was standing closer to the ball than I usually do (just like an inch or so). I was unknowingly compensating by coming over the top and across with a closed face.
Got my friend to take some video of me with his phone and compare it to earlier rounds (where I wasn't hooking the ball). Backed up a bit, now hitting them straight for the most part. My short game is what is killing me now ...
