I don't believe this personally. The way I see it if trading Schneider was a viable option before the season started, I think Schneider would have been dealt before/during the lockout and definitely before the trade deadline. MG tried everything and the dog to move Lu but all the compliance buyouts happening certainly did not help improve his chances of making the trade either, and had to move Schneider to get something/anything of value back for an asset.

I don't think it has to be, or will ever be black and white. From Lu's perspective, MG likely never came up to him and said "We have this deal in place with TO where you will go and we will get this and that back. Do you approve?" From MG's perspective, he could have had a deal discussed in principle with Burke/Nonis then tested waters with Lu "How do you feel about going to Toronto?" with Lu replying "I would MUCH prefer to go Florida *wink nudge*"

In this case, Lu did not turn down a trade that was ready to go and MG never asked Lu to waive his NTC. So nobody is actually lying, it's all semantics
