Somebody got whacked last night. Given the poor quality of reporting/information in these articles. It seems the media also doesn't give a fuck about shootings anymore.

COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – A man has been shot dead on a quiet residential street in Coquitlam.

He was shot on Marathon Court, which is near Brunette and Schoolhouse. The victim, who was in his thirties, was shot in his car and tried to drive away after he was shot; he later died in hospital.

Police tape was up around a large section of the neighbourhood this morning.

Around the same time as the shooting, police were also called to the same area about a vehicle fire; they believe that incident is linked to the shooting, though they have not yet been able to determine how.

“With the tentative ID that we do have, it would suggest that this was a targeted, gang-related shooting,” says Sergeant Jennifer Pound with IHIT.

Police have been taking pictures of poles that have been knocked down in the area; it’s unclear if the victim hit them as he drove away.

METRO VANCOUVER - One man in his 30s is dead and the Integrated Homicide Team has been called in after a targeted shooting Tuesday night in Coquitlam.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound, a spokeswoman for IHIT, confirmed one male died in hospital after an apparent gunshot wound. She said investigators believe the shooting was a targeted, gang related hit.

Coquitlam RCMP responded to a 911 call about a car fire at around 11 p.m. on Thomas Avenue. They received another call about a car crash a short distance away in the area of Brunette Avenue and Laurentian. When they arrived at Brunette Avenue, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.

The victim was taken to Royal Columbia Hospital in New Westminster but later died from his injuries.

Pound said the man was known to police and they believe both incidents are related.
