I'm a huge supporter of animal rescues and a supporter for charities who help against animal cruelty. In terms of fundraising, do you think Kickstarter would work? Offering a calendar with the dogs from the rescue as the reward for donating might generate some donation dollars. I see some challenges which include making a short video clip, taking high quality images of the dogs, and the costs of printing the calendars.
Also if she is registered with Canada Revenue Agency she can start receiving donations from chimp.net. Chimp is an excellent way to donate to charities and i think her non-profit organization would benefit from it.
