Don't get me wrong, I'm still waiting for Kassian to go beast but I'm glad we got rid of such a difficult player in CoHo.

Cody just a couple days ago was saying he expects to have a new deal done pretty soon and loves the team and city and can't wait get the deal signed.
Take this for whats it worth, but having some knowledge of some of the stuff that happened here, it really wasn't Cody, it was AV that made that relationship toxic and Gillis backed into a corner having to back his coach at the time. Honestly if my "boss" accused me of lying and faking injuries when it was proven I wasn't and harassed me weekly, I wouldn't be happy either. Cody hasn't been difficult or had any issues at all being in Buffalo, even when Ruff was hard on him for a 2 week stretch. You can dig up the posts from when the trade was made, but I was telling everyone Zack has maturity issues, is unfocused and lazy at times, after watching him very closely in Rochester and Buffalo and talking to a few guys, and this pretty much happened last season when he got benched and sent to the AHL for being unfocused and spending too much time at the Roxy and being a general douchebag. I'm rooting for Zack to succeed here but honestly he's more a candidate for off ice issues than Cody.
Cody's been training pretty intense all off season with James Neal and Stamkos at Gary Roberts fitness center, so he'll be ready, he's letting Rich Winter deal with all the contract stuff. There actually remains a number of good young RFAs unsigned, in pretty much all these cases, its not the because the players are being difficult, its just the process between the agents and the GMs, there is no rush as they are restricted, so its really not uncommon for RFA's especially young talented ones to go this far into summer without a deal yet as the team and the agent try to get the best deal before training camp.
Aside from Cody, Pietrangelo, Stephan, Boedker, Kadri and Johansson remain unsigned. Henrique was just resigned a few days ago, and Tanev not too long ago.
