What angers me the most is the way the beautiful game of hockey is being managed by the idiots in New York.
Shanaban is a terrible discipilinarian. What do they want the NHL to stand for?
NHL = No Hitting League?
The problem with Shanaban is that he cannot tell the difference between a legal hit/incidental contact and an illegal hit/headshot. He is so out of touch with the game.
You make decisions on suspension based on the intent of the player, not on the extent of a player's injury.
Furthermore, remember when some GMs like Yzerman and Rutherford said that fighting should be banned from hockey after the George Parros incident?
Like many players in the game, I agree that there is a place in this sport not only for clean hits, but also fighting. We gotta have this stuff to make the game attractive to fans, and keep players honest.
If a goon knows that he's gonna get hit hard, or have to answer to an enforcer in a fight in response to a dirty hit, it just helps protect players in general, not just the star players. We need this as a deterrent.
This is ice hockey, not figure skating!!!
